What is the shelf life of makeup?

What is the shelf life of makeup is the question. I always check out my makeup. If you use expired makeup you can have some kind of reaction (bums, rash, swelling of the skin, pimples, redness etc.).

In this post you can read an answer to the question! Here you go:

CONCEALER: 3 years

EYESHADOW: 3 years

FACIAL CLEANSERS: Cream and gel facial cleansers will last 1 year.

FOUNDATION: A water-based foundation will last up to 12 months, oil-based will last up to 18 months.

LIP LINER: 3 years

LIPSTICK: Some experts say lipstick will last 1-2 years. Others say up to 4 years. What everyone agrees on is that if it smells rancid, throw it out, it’s spoiled.

MASCARA: Mascara expires the fastest: Throw out after 4 months.. It’s a breeding ground for bacteria. Most mascaras with a tube and a wand have an antibacterial agent in them that last about 6 weeks making you safe for at least a couple months and likely safe up to 4. You risk eye infection the longer you keep the product.

NAIL POLISH: 1 year

PENCIL EYELINER: As long as you sharpen them regularly, your pencil liners will last up to 3 years

PERFUME: Most perfumes have a maximum shelf life of 3 to 5 years from their production date.

POWDER: Powder makeup has great staying power and will last up to 2 years.

I think we all need to take care of our skin so keep checking out your makeup. We only throw away makeup that we ‘sometimes’ use and that is a big mistake. So ladies don’t just love your makeup, you need to also love yourself, your skin!!

      1. I know but sometimes I haven’t finished the product and by the time I get around to using it it’s probably at the end of its shelf life 😭
